Crown Heights: Hundreds Study the Beis Hamikdash

On Wednesday evening, hundreds gathered in the newly renovated Beis Medrash Chovevei Torah on Eastern Parkway to learn about the Beis Hamidash.

The organizer, Rabbi Shmuel Pevzner of Vaad Hamosifin-Merkaz Anash, opened the event with an overview of the Rebbe’s institution to study about the Beis Hamidash and increase Torah and tzedakah during the Three Weeks.

The first speaker, Rabbi Avrohom Gerlitzky, magid shiur in Oholei Torah, spoke of Techiyas Hameisim and the fulfillment of mitzvos when Moshiach will come.

Reb Yoel Kahn, chief chozer of the Rebbe and mashpia of the yeshivah in 770, explained in depth the difference between the first and second Batei Mikdash, and the third Beis Hamikdash which will include the advantages of each of the previous ones.

A siyum was then made by Rabbi Shimon Hellinger, director of Merkaz Anash, who concluded masechta Chulin and quoted from the Rebbe’s sicha on the concluding mishna.

The attraction of the evening was a large scale model of the Beis Hamikdash (scaled to size 1:50) built by Mr. Shimon Frankel of Machon Hamikdash in Yerushalayim. The model measures aprox. 15 feet long and 6 feet wide, and includes many intricate details of the structure and keilim of the Beis Hamikdash. A similar model has been used in Eretz Yisroel for a number of years, and only recently a model was built for display in America.

As Mr. Frankel added the various sections, he explained their function in the service of the Beis Hamikdash. He showed where each of the keilim was placed and brought to life the enormous size of the actual Beis Hamikdash with figurines of the same scale.

At the end of the presentation, the crowd lingered to take photos of the model and to ask questions. Everyone left with a renewed yearning and hope for the third Beis Hamikdash. May we merit to see it very soon.
